So the AVR I was using for the kids video game systems is an old Oinker unit and it defecated the bed the other day. I figured it was a good time to find a more modern one with multiple HDMI ports.

Yeah, fat chance.

Anybody got any sources for AVRs that are in stock and sub-500 bucks?

Even Crutchfield is down to 7 models in stock now and they're mostly in the $5K and up price range.

I'd be looking on Ebay for something used from a few years ago possibly when the second gen 4K models came out. Maybe there's a forum member looking to part with one though?

Prices may be elevated for used models too by now.

FWIW, daughter has the DH790 in her basement for movies and gaming, works good enough for her needs.

My basic requirements are at least 4 HDMI inputs. That's it.

It's just what the kids use for video games and a secondary TV if someone wants to watch something else.

It can be a receiver or even just a pre-amp/processor. They only use it in stereo and I have stereo amps coming out my ears so that's fine too.

I just need to be able to do HDMI switching simply. I don't care about power levels or anything, it doesn't power anything but R15s. Not worried about brand but not buying junk like Pyle. Used stuff is fine too, depends on condition.

Yeah, thanks but that doesn't help me with the fact that the receiver is dead.

Besides, I already have an HDMI switch and I'm the only one in the house that knows how it works.

So I grabbed that Pioneer VSX-534 solely because it'll be here by the end of the week since it's at B&H's NYC location. That will get it here before the kids get back from their father's house.

The Salvation Army ones, I went to bid they said that the minimum bid was something like $515 bucks so somebody has a high bid set to at least $514. The other one I didn't bother with because they both went from about $30 last night to $185+ this morning so they are both in the same boat. I can't wait for auctions to end someone to get around to shipping the item anyway.

There's a nice Yammie at Accessories 4 Less as well but they estimate delivery around December 15th. Ouch. So if the B&H purchase falls through like the Denon direct purchase did yesterday, I'll go for that Yamaha on Accessories 4 Less.

I saw the stuff on Amazon earlier but they are both listed as used, like new condition and those are prices higher than what they were new. So those are all else failed options right now.

So we'll see what comes of it. Thanks for your help so far!

So the Pioneer actually shipped. How do I know? FedEx just told me it's arriving today.

Granted not new, but Denon, Yamaha, Marantz on CL might be a good choice.

I've seen my Micro Seiki DD-35 going for anywhere from $450 to $1200. Just the dust cover is going for $150-$290.

I told ya, it's insane.

Wow, you are not kidding about being sold out. My parents Oinker 707 just crapped the bed and he needed something due to a projector set up. Went with a Pio VSX-LX105. Was showing in inventory when I searched and was sold out in the evening when I went to purchase. Had to find one on an Ebay store...

Right now about the only thing best buy is swimming in is tvs.
You can't walk around the store without tripping on a pile of them.
