Flavored salts. Okaaaaaaay. Cool. I don't know how they do it, kinda curious but I do know full well that different salts do different things when cooking. Just wondering if anyone here has tried something like this.

Worthy arsenal in the kitchen or just the latest BS marketing scheme?

Inquiring minds want to know.....okay, at least my mind does.

We have a bunch of flavored salts…mostly from Grill Your A$$ off. But we also have a few small local company options too.

Really depends on what you are using it with, but the flavors can be a solid addition to or barely a hint in whatever it is you are cooking.

Thanks, Ryan. So you have experience. Half a decade on this big, blue marble and I am surprised I haven't heard of this before.....and I have a pretty vast knowledge of cooking. Apparently not good enough though.

Do you use these just as you would regular salt? Beginning/middle/seasoning/brining/end of cooking/tweaking? Any special way to use these or just as you would normal salt?

Also, is it available in Kosher, iodized, table and all of the other kinds of salts or what?

    Like... so... I mean.
    You got yer salt. Right?
You got yer flavor -- sittin' in another little little bottle, up on the shelf, right?
Maybe the same shelf that the salt's on.
    So... umm...
    I mean...

Do you need to buy another little bottle of stuff that's just those two bottles you already have but mixed together?

Don't worry, most other 5-year-olds surveyed didn't know about it either! :p

I don't know what I was thinking last night. I thought that they had somehow infused flavor into the crystals of the salt itself. I have probably 20 different kinds of salt that has additional ingredients in it, including salts that have "no salt" (or salt substitutes).

It is what it is. Call it a brain ****.

Seriously, the "actual" word for flatulence is banned from this board? How stupid.

    OMG.

I purchased the "salt bundle" because I wanted to try several of them, instead of just one.

Overall, they have not disappointed with the various types of meats I have grilled. I really did like the black truffle salt on grilled chicken.

I probably will not purchase them again since I am stuck in my ways and I really like using the Dizzy Pig seasoning products, as well as fruity wood chunks.
