I have entered the relm of polk with my first polk speakers last week. So far I am very impressed with my r/40's, but I do have a question. I have heard that there is a sertain way to "Break in" polk speakers is this true or not.
Shhhh.... Don't let My wife know. She thinks that I am buying flowers.

Not sure if Polk recommends something other than the "normal" way of breaking in speakers. Generally they tell you to let the speaker play as sort of background music while you are at home doing something. They say to do this from 40-100 hours (not sure so I left that big range). So don't immediately start cranking Metallica at full volume. :D

I usually allow 40 hrs for most speakers, I use Prodigy's 'Fat of The Land' (heavy techno music, strong bass beats, ear shattering highs....)

I leave em on while I'm at work, somewhere around 85-87db continuous, 90-92 db peaks. On most speakers, I have heard an obvious difference after break-in. The bass tends to have more presence, and if a tweeter has any intial harshness, it tends to 'mellow out'.

    Cheers,
    Russ

(I actually have an amp/cd player setup for just this, in a small room I can close off)
Check your lips at the door woman. Shake your hips like battleships. Yeah, all the white girls trip when I sing at Sunday service.
