rule of thumb please

what is a good rule of thumb for distance or your mains from the tv. I have heard 3 feet !??

    As a rule of thumb, your mains should be as far apart from each other as you sit from them. In other words picture an equalateral triangle with you and each main forming the points.

    Im about 11 feet away from the tv and speakers....my speakers are 6-7 feet apart

    That's about how mine are. When I had them in "triangle" configuration, they didn't sound as good for music.

    I have mine where they will fit. Which works quite well. One is about 1 foot (or less) from the TV, and the other is 4 or so feet from the TV -- and it has perfect center imaging over the TV. Pretty good.

    I usually tell people to get ATLEAST 3 feet on each side of your center, if you can do more...do more
