You could always add a tubed buffer. I know it's just something more in the chain but it would at the very least let you know if the mod would be worth it or not.
Tom~ In search of accurate reproduction of music. Real sound is my reference and while perfection may not be attainable? If I chase it, I might just catch excellence. ~ -
What would be a decent one to look for? I do have some nice 12au7 tubes left over from the Cary pre I had....
-
I personally could not recommend one. Never used one before, sorry. I was just throwing out the idea. With that said, if you look for one that has minimal electronics....the signal shouldn't change too much (other than the tubes doing their thing).

Gotcha....thanks Tom

Here is one at "reasonable" cost that you may want to entertain. This one uses the tubes you have but is also a pre-amp. I may be wrong but I thought I saw years back that you could get a tube buffer without a pre-amp built into it.

Sorry for the off topic posts. We should carry on this discussion in another thread outside of the Flea Market.

I'm thinking a tube dac for your source would be a better way to introduce tubess without adding unnecessary components- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit.
