Polk Legend L900 - Set to Height or Dolby Atmos Speakers?
Hi everyone - quick question.
I have the Polk Legend L800's arriving soon and already have the L900's. My current receiver (Denon AVC-4700) has an option to set the front height speakers to front Height or front Dolby Atmos in the configuration. The L900's are Dolby Atmos certified, so what do you believe would be the correct setting for these to gain the maximum benefit - Dolby Atmos? The configuration diagram shows the Dolby Atmos speakers sitting on top of the mains too, which is closer to where they will be, so I'll assume that will be the correct option to choose once I set it up.
Thanks in advance.

With a Marantz processor the front height speakers setting for speakers like the L900 supports Atmos, DTS:X and Auro 3D formats. I don’t see a difference between height and Atmos. They should be the same thing.

Thanks for the reply and I see you already have the same front end set up. When you go into the settings and you see the "Height" speakers on the screen, they are up on the wall above the main speakers, whereas the Dolby Atmos speakers are on top of the front left and right channels, which is closer to where the L900 modules would be. I think for configuration and Audyssey set up, setting them to Dolby will actually be the way to go.

Got it. Might be a Denon specific thing. I would say go with the Dolby Atmos setting for the L900s. That's really what the L900s are designed for, which is to bounce the sound off the ceiling to add height to the soundfield at the listening area. I think Denon and Yamaha both had height effect speaker settings for up front prior to Atmos being introduced.
