I have a rare set of legacy -1 bookshelf's
Moded and best I heard. What bookself you recommend must have silky highs and mids to die for.

Audiovector QR-1 (current production) - I typically don’t love the AMT type tweeter, but Audiovector really made a sweet, airy version of this.

AAD Reference Silver-1 (look for on the used market); see Stereophile review; heard these myself at an Ultimate Electronics and it was sweet and silky indeed. Mid-bass was a little woolly, imo.

3-way bookshelves: the Wharfedale Opus (forgot the model number), Diamond 9 and Diamond 10 series all had variations on the 1” soft dome tweeter, 3” soft dome midrange, and 8” woofer theme.

IMO, the best bookshelf speakers are the ones YOU like best.
