I've had mine for a few years now. Still love it. Only had to replace the belt so far. I compared it to the Rega P6 and Technics SL1200. Sometimes I wonder if the simplicity of the Technics would have been better, but I preferred the sound of the mofi so that's what I went with.

The Technics is far, far more complicated under the hood.
Realistically, it's probably not a real concern (i.e., Panasonic has made the SL-1200, almost without a break, since the mid-1970s), but there is a lot to go wrong in a DD tt.

I am second owner of a mid 70s Technics SL 1100.

Oiled the spindle a few times.

Other than that, no maintenance. 😊
Just today I swapped cartridges to an NOS Denon DL -160.

Bought it used in the 1990s for $50. bucks, along with 1,500 LPs.

Lol, deals like that are gone!

Found my SL-Q2 at the Harvard (MA) town dump.
    Excellent price:performance ratio*
It was my daily driver for several years, and is still the Main Backup tt here.

Panasonic knew (knows) how to build a solid and dependable DD tt (as I tried to imply above, but may not have succeeded).

Sorry, didn't intend for this to morph into a Technics thread. My bad.

Moral of the story, I don't plan on moving on from the Mofi until I'm ready to double the investment. If that was today I'd likely be looking at VPI and Technics 1200G. Lots of options at that price point, but those are the ones I'm particularly drawn to.

ClevelandVinyl.com He sells on ebay too.
I bought several "audiophile quality" LPs from him over the years.

He has early pressings, imported, etc. Look him up.
    Good guy to deal with!

Got my low numbered MFSL Beatles Box Set on ebay for $600. about 10 years ago. Impeccable sound quality!
