Too Young to Pass???

I didn’t want to muck up the Charlie Watts thread, but a comment in the thread struck me as very odd. How can living past life expectancy being considered “too young too pass”? I think we’d all considered it good fortune to make it to 80.

Perhaps it’s point-of-view dependent. If you’re 77, then 80 seems too close for comfort.

Yes I agree to both as I myself have more life behind me than I do in front. I'd love to live to 90-95 in great health but that is highly unlikely.

I'm feeling the same way. At 61 I've had my share of health issues. Ironically, tomorrow would have my dad's 80th birthday. He passed 3 years ago.

Yes, 80 is way to young to go. Both of my parents made it to their mid 80s, and passed to soon because they didn’t take care of themselves. I will be 72 next month, and want to live for at least another 200 years, baring any accidents. To keep myself in shape I am drinking beer and listening to Metal tonight, and I try to follow that routine twice a week. :)

I'd be ecstatic to make it to 80.

My grandparents lived into their 90's. Heck my grandmother on my mother's side is 96 and still going strong. I was a health nut, ate organic foods until I was 47. Thought I'd live to be at least 150 but then I got cancer. Now it's all whiskey, hookers and cheese burgers.

Wish I could live in your world where people live to be 270 years old. Now I completely understand how 80 is “too young to pass.”

It was not uncommon at all in biblical times for folks to live 900 years. You must have a profound faith in God.

It's not about how old you are, it's your quality of life and what you do with it.

  • As long as I can keep my good looks and charm to the end, I'll be satisfied as I'm sure will be those around me.

I'm not in any rush but I do look forward to getting to Heaven as I have a few ideas that God needs to hear.
It'll all be good if I can just sneak past Mr. Grand at the Gates.

I just don't want to be old and in poor health. I've seen too many old people (80+) who are in poor health and just waiting to die and have no life to speak of because of their poor health.
