probably the best known of his songs in "pop" circles, though, was covered by someone else.

He is a little before my time. I didn’t know he wrote that song. But I do have a Tom t Hall story.
In 2010 I moved to Lexington Kentucky. I ended up I working for a Dish Network contractor. The first week or so I was on my own I had am install in Paris a little outside of Lexington. The guy was up in age and he asked me where are you from. You have a weird phone number. I told him Mansfield Ohio.
He tells me I lived in Mansfield back in the 50’s. Growing up in Mansfield I found over time half of Mansfield had family in Olive Hill Kentucky. Because they all came up to work in the steel mill in the 50s. So I said you are from Olive Hill aren’t you? He said how did you know that. I said luck guess. Then the first words out of his mouth after that was I graduated with Tom t Hall.
I’m kind of surprised I still remember that interaction. But I think it sticks out to me to prove how small our world is.
