Vacuum Need Help

Looking for a new vacuum, we picked up a Shark from Target, and it was a beast, and would have kept it if it was able to adjust for the thickness of your carpet, did one room and it overheated the motor. Now I’m at a loss to one that would do the job..

I've had an Eureka The Boss Smart Vac for something like 20 years. Works like a dream and has adjustable height. Unfortunately Larry, they don't make it any longer.

You did very well then and you have a long term if not lifetime vacuum. I bought a Miele canister vac about 30 years ago and it's still going strong. The only thing I don't like about it is the bags are expensive and either have to be ordered online or bought at the dealer. Small price to pay though for a great quality German made vac.

On our second Dyson in about 10 years. They suck just fine, but the first had various plastic pieces break every now and then. Eventually it just made more sense to buy a new one. Both of ours have been refurbs. Looked new to me and I don't think I paid more than $200 for either one.

We've owned Kirby's off and on over the years great vacuums, we only buy used and reconditioned by a factory service center otherwise you can practically buy a good used car for their new price. ATM I too used an Eureka lightspeed HEPA filter vacuum it works great and no bags to buy. Every two years new filters and back in business.

Had Kirby's before too. Great vacuums but inconvenient to use. Taking the beater bar head off to use the hose attachment just isn't very user friendly. Not to mention having to find a place to store all that stuff. Maybe the latest models are better?
