TV hookup

in 2 Channel Audio
I'm putting a TV in my 2 channel room (wall mount). Connecting a bluray player and apple tv. Both will be hardwired to the router. How do I get the sound to my pre-amp (aux input)

    If your preamp has an internal DAC and an optical input the easiest way is to use the TV for HDMI switching and run an optical cable back to the pre.

    If the TV has a headphone out jack like 3.5mm that's the easiest way to do an analog connection by using a headphone jack to RCA cable.

    If the TV has a digital optical output there are many versions of inexpensive Toslink to RCA/3.5mm digital to analog converter boxes. Those run about $10.

    A more expensive option would be to set up the system with a home theater receiver to handle all the video/audio stuff through HDMI and use an analog preamp in bypass mode if it has that function. Best of both worlds.

    Agree with Emlyn. Most new TVs don't have analog out or if they do its a head phone jack.. I used a cheap Fiio DAC recently when my AVR was briefly out of commission into an integrated amp
