New Toys

I recently purchased some new toys! I'll give you a couple of pics. A review will be coming but not for a while. I'm thinking in about a month or so. When I reviewed the L200's I was the second guy in line and I think, going on memory here, that they had 200 hours or so on them before they got to me. So..., in all fairness I'd like to get as close to that as possible before any critical listening.

Packaging was pretty good. As you can see "almost" double boxed, from the inside. The black sock and plastic wrap was a nice touch. VERY high WAF, she loves the look of them, especially with the grey grills. As a matter of fact she's rethinking redecoration of our home since seeing these. She thinks they look modern 70's era. Can't think of a better compliment for a loudspeaker! The one question she did have for me was "What are you going to do with the damn boxes?". She's never liked my audio boxes taking up space in the house. The wrap around grills are a nice touch. The base and feet, well, more on that in the review. I do have a pic of what I am used to using for spikes, which are on my 8t's. The manual is a small book, in 11 different languages. And, finally, a pic of the two side by side.

Enjoy!

Glad that your wife approves! They look great. You didn't tell us if they are the R600 (6.5" mids) or the R500 (5.25" mids).

Sweet! Give them a good break-in period and let us know your thoughts. I’ll bet they sound awesome.

Onkyo A-9070, maybe throw the MM 7025 into the mix. Same as the review on the Legend 200's...

Cool, looking forward to hearing about how they sound as they break in.
  • Nice! I’ve always been intrigued by that particular integrated. I owned the smaller A-9050 a few years back and thought it was a great value and I really liked the built in wolfson dac. Currently I have the “updated”A-9150, but I’m not sure I like it as much, yet. I’m curious to read your thoughts on pairing it with the reserves; particularly if you found the marantz brought more to the table.
    Enjoy!
Oh, Listen here mister. We got no way of understandin' this world. But we got as much sense of this bird flyin in the sky. Now there is a lot that bird don't know, but it don't change the fact that the world is happening to him all the same. What I am tryin to say is, is that the course of your life, well its changing, and you don't even see it- Forest Bondurant
