Quick question for all you car detailing experts.
I have weather tech mats in all our vehicles.
What do you folks use after you clean them to make them look like new?
Here in IN we have snow/ice and nasty salt. I've watched some videos on the subject and there is all kinds of products.
Any advice?
Thanks all.
David

I have found it impossible to refresh weather tech floor mats, they will never look new again.
I switched to the 3D Maxpider mats as they refresh with nothing more than some quick detailer after washing.

I am not a detailer, but I have WeatherTech mats. I had to scrub them with a nylon brush, cleaner, and I had to use some serious elbow grease. I think I used Simple Green. I don't know if they looked 100% new but they looked good to me.
I definitely had to scrub pretty hard, wish it was a lot easier than it was. -
Try black paint. If you can't find any, maybe bed liner paint?Gustard X26 Pro DAC

Scrubbed with nylon brush first, cleaned them ok.
Got out the power washer, got much better.
Still not the new look I hoped for but definitely better.
Tks all -
Scrub the P out of them, let dry, plastic restorer…Scene!Where’s the KABOOM?!?! There’s supposed to be an Earth shattering KABOOM!!!

I have the Husky brand in all my fleet of vehicles. Made in America and very similar to weather tech. I had brown weathertech that came in my tundra. They never looked good after wash. Sold them. I have black in all vehicles and clean with soap and water and seal with a 3M product called 303. You must be careful as it can make the mats slippery. -

A few tears back I has just got out of hospital and couldn't move vey well, so I got a mobile auto detailing service to come and do my car. The guy proudly told me he had used Meguiars (we only use named brands, sir) black restorer on my Weather Tech mats. They were so slippery the car was almost undrivable - maybe an automatic would work but mine is a manual. Had to scrub them with detergent. -

That's the age old dilemma , where to find black paint.
Fortunately, help is on the way. ! 👍😀

You should probably also contact Jstas (John) as he's always expressed a real interest in black paint. 👼⚡💥

Doesn't he have leftover pink paint from the flames on his mower?

That was a concern I had and I should have stated it in my post. Definitely don’t want slick floor mats.Things work out best for those who make the best of the way things work out.-John Wooden -
Jeez it sounds like I did a bad thing ordering sets for my new vehicles. I figured for the price they charge for them they should be self cleaning. I haven't had to clean mine yet but I'm thinking I don't really need shiny and most importantly slippery weathertech floor mats.

Hit em a 2nd time with the power washer.
Good enough.
They do keep all the winter crap off the carpet. -
I just pressure wash mine too. Adam's Polishes Black Trim Restorer will do the trick and it's not a silicone based product. It does NOT leave a slick finish, it's more of a dye that smells like furniture stain. I use it on my exterior trim and it lasts 4-6 months max on a daily driven vehicle.
