hello all -

i'm looking for something to record live shows (like in bars, etc) off of their soundboards....just curious if anyone knew what would be best to do that with now-a-days

i used to do it with a minidisc like 7 years ago, but i dont know if there isnt anything newer/better....any advice or where i should begin looking would be appreciated =) thanks for reading...

    Jason,

I don't know about any better or newer format for you to use.. sorry guy. Maybe something along the lines of digital audio tape. or move into something like a video camera.. which would give you digital audio and digital video.

i live in Spokane too. lol

    Welcome!

if your willing to deal with lossy compression, than stay with minidisc, if you want portable better than cd quality get a DAT. If you got some money, a laptop with a nice external digital and analogue inputs. DV is good too, but with everything, the bigger the bigger battery

Check into hard disc recorders. Tascam makes some very nice units. They have a grea web site with wonderful spec sheets. Go to google, enter tascam, hit I feel lucky.
    Good luck, Phil

This thread is probably dead, but I just thought I'd second DAT. My buddy uses DAT to record his shows, and I am amazed at the quality he gets from it.
