So my setup is old but good. I have a old B&k AVR507 THX Ultra 2 receiver 7.1 that powers my Lsi15s my Lsi center and my LsiFX surround 4ohm speakers nice, I also use a SVS subwoofer " from 2001" powered by a separate amp. I just moved into a big house with 2 bonus rooms and the one I'm going to turn into a theater room.. last night I setup my new LG 77 oled that's been in storage boxes for a month just waiting to move in:. I also havent used my gear in years it's just been sitting..

. I wanted to upgrade a lot of it but last night I hooked it up and damn it still sounds good!!! My receiver I need to upgrade only because it's missing a lot of new sound formats and HDMI but damn it runs my 4ohm with ease and not many new receivers can do what this does so I'll prolly have to run amps ....

So anyway I noticed when I was doing speaker setup and playing white noise out of each speaker that my center sounded bad... it still works but something ain't right..... I read the Lsim 706 is amazing and only 399 on amazon but will it match my current setup?

Most likely a blown resistor tweeter network. The first Gen lsic with a single larger inductor only experienced burned up inductors as well
    - Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit.

Is that an easy fix or would it be easier just upgrading to a better center.. the center has always been the weakest link in that series

Does the LSiC sound fine when it's playing normal material or is it just the level testing signal?

Regarding the receiver, B&K put excellent Mosfet amps in their receivers so it doesn't lack power.

I'd also recommend hooking another speaker up to the center output just to make sure that channel's not gone bad in the receiver though or hook the center channel speaker up to one of the other channels and test it.

The price on the LSiM 706 is fantastic. It's a more potent speaker than the main speakers you have though. It's not voiced too differently however and as mentioned the center channel speaker is the most important in the home theater world.

That's an excellent idea to hook up another speaker to the center channel spot!! I put a movie on and had my ear up to it and the voices seemed slightly low and off but yet when I first hooked up and sat on my couch I didn't hear anything off but my ear for sound isn't what it used to since I've been out of the game for a while ....

Do you think the Polk lsi's I have are still good enough speakers compared to others out today ? I Just hate when I buy a new AVR I'll most likely need another amp to get the power they need.. sometimes I wonder if I should buy new 8ohm speakers but then again these sound good to me

The LSi series are good speakers, especially the LSiFX and LSi9. I had a pair of the LSi15 and think the LSiM705 or LSiM707 are a big step up.

The LSiC has confused owners before when they put their ear up to the drivers and don't hear much perceived sound from one of them. That's normal. If it sounds good on real source material I'd stick with it.
