Some guy locally will let them go for 550 but see the base...can this be fixed by turning the base and re tightening? Also they must have been dropped pretty hard for the front veneer to come of like that....they do come w the grills. Thoughts??

I think I'm missing the issued pointed out here.

The rear of the base of the 705s flares out to the sides - it should be like that on both sides. It's shaped a little like a trapezoid, wider at the rear than the front. Are you saying that it's definitely shifted more to one side?

What veneer has come off? Oh, the badge? Ask what happened, but yeah, I agree be prepared to walk.

A lot of speaker tho for $550. I'd toss $500 at them.
I'm driving mine with a Denon AVR (150W) and get a lot of enjoyment out
of them for music and movies.

    Just sayin'

Adorama was selling shipping damaged speakers last year on Ebay that looked way worse than that. Money's better spent on speakers that haven't been obviously damaged though.

If they had been seriously mishandled in shipping the most likely evidence would be with the base plate.

It looks like the owner has made some attempt to use bass absorption panels, which indicates not being inexperienced with audio, so they may be worth a look in person.

So the magnetic grills rest on those badges. I could could see them being knocked off/loose if the grills were placed on carelessly or aggressively. The grills are metal framed and relatively heavy. I am not seeing the issue with the base.

Looks a like a good deal to me.

To my eye, if you expand the photo, it looks like white chips are showing along the edges of the black acrylic around each of the rubber trim pieces. I don't think that is a light reflection.

The base looks crooked to me....like it has been spun crooked. Unless that is the shape of the base?

    This may help.
I saw those speakers on Atlanta Facebook Marketplace yesterday.
I don't know if the base is messed up. and will leave that up to others.

On Facebook Marketplace, there is a picture that shows some case/veneer damage.

Ahh I see it now. Well still a fantastic pair of speakers for $550. One can probably touch that up and make it almost disappear.

If they are functioning fine and it's just cosmetic might be worth the look.

The seller came back with a price of 500. I am a bit hesitant due moving towers around is a PITA especially when it's time to sell them.
Also there is a pair of minty Totem Skys I found used down in FL. that caught my eye. All these first world problems lol.
