Objective: To determine if a Palm-OS PDA can properly function after a two foot fall.

Materials: One lab coat, one PDA, gravity.

Methods: Place fully functional PDA in lab coat pocket. Stand up in a manner that dislocates PDA from lab coat pocket and falls to ground striking hard tile floor. Press on button to check for function of PDA.

Results: PDA is broken.

Conclusion: Don't be a dumbass and let your PDA hit the ground, even from two feet. It won't work afterwards. For symptomatic relief, get drunk and drool over newer and more expensive PDAs with better features. Repeat symptomatic relief after purchasing new PDA and becoming completely broke.

sorry to hear about your PDA. i've never owned one.. so i'm no help whatsoever.

but a friend of mine has one with a rubber surround.. it "helps" limit damage from small accidents. I know that's a little to late. but maybe a gadget for your next PDA

I don't know if you have renters insurance, but I have a Personal Articles policy in addition.....works like this:

With State Farm (only for my renters stuff) all the stuff in my apartment is covered up to whatever I set the limit to. In addition to that policy which would cover most losses minus the deductible, I have a Personal Articles Policy. That's a policy that I have things like my Laptop, PDA, and Bike on. If I should break or damage any of the items on my Personal Articles Policy, they would be fixed or replaced without my needing to pay any deductible. If I'm walking near the pool and I trip and the laptop ends up at the bottom of the pool totally fried, they'll replace it for free, and they will give me the dollar amount that I paid for the laptop towards another laptop. I think it's technically "replacement cost" but I could argue their ears off why they'd be giving me most if not all what I had paid.....

I would SERIOUSLY look into a policy like that.......unless you wanna pay the warranties through the places you're buying them from.........

I know that not every company offers a Personal Articles Policy as an ammendment to their Renters Policies, so shop around.

I did leave one company to go with State Farm who did offer it because it's something that is a HUGE benefit. I'd add anything that's portable and valueable (PDA, Laptop, Digital Cam, Camcorder, Bike, etc.....)
