GRIN - well, Rocky, I've got you by a few years - I'm 68 going on 30 - and suffer the ill effects of spending some 30 years as fine arts reporter for the Chicago Tribune stations - WGN, CHicago, etc. - so I HAD to learn a lot about classical music and opera. Getting paid for knowledge is a whole lot better (and more challenging) than just acquiring knowledge in pursuit of a hobby.
You'll listen - you'll learn - and it's hardly too late for you to play "catch-up!"
Start with such composers as Mozart, Rachmaninoff, Tchaikovsky, and work your way into Beethoven and Bach. Even I don't like EVERYTHING that's out there! Nobody does. I'm sure other forum-posters will have good suggestions for you!
Courage! Larry R -
Yawn - it's 5 a.m. and I'm finally going back to bed - suffer from mid-night insomnia, and the forum helps me to while away the dark hours. Will be out in Santa Fe for the opera in about eight weeks - and my wife says she can't wait to breathe some "real air!" G-nite to all - will post more Friday. Larry R.
