New receiver for vintage Polk 7

Options
Hello, I have a pair of vintage Polk 7s from the mid-1980s. I want to buy a new modern receiver for them. Do you have any recommendations for that new receiver?

    Hello,
Welcome to Polk's forum. It's helpful if you could give us a price range for the receiver?

Stereo or HT receiver? More bang for your buck if willing to go used. Do you want a tuner? Of not go integrated instead.

I'm driving mine with a Denon PMA-500v integrated amplifier. It's 80wpc and it sounds really nice with the Monitor 7s.

Ther)y sell on eBay for around $150 for the 500v or even the 700v which is 100wpc.

This is an educated guess, if not just a wish ;) ... but... I would think that the current crop of 2-channel receivers or (even better) integrated amplifiers from Yamaha would be well worthy of consideration.

    maybe, e.g., the A-S701

Lots of the older Onkyo stereo amps are still doing fine and you can get them cheap. Older Yamaha receivers too!

I like the ones with the 10 squares (numbers 1-10 ) on their faces. Like this...

I just saw a ton of nice receivers on eBay but looking local is the best way sometimes. Unless you want new.

Most people just listen to music and watch movies. I EXPERIENCE them.

Not sure where the OP went, but fwiw …

I have the PMA-900v that the original owner used to drive my SDA-SRS2’s … worked pretty well although my more powerful newer amps have done better. I’m refreshing my Mon 7’s and will be using my various vintage integrateds/receivers to drive, including this one … expect them to sound great - better than modern AVRs, maybe not compared to pricier modern integrateds.
