I own both, go for the 7’s.

I think the price for the 7's is *fair*. A good deal would be a little less than the price you could get selling the tweeters and MW's individually on eBay. You could tell him that you had budgeted yourself $150 for some vintage speakers, realizing that you'd probably spend additionally at least twice that upgrading them and modding them, but offer him something like $160 or $165.George / NJ

Assuming both offers have fully functional drivers with no scraping etc.., I'm still going with those 7B's with the Peerless tweeters. If you have fully functional hearing (lol), you will probably have to replace those SL2000 tweeters in the 10B's and that ain't cheap. Plus most people that have heard both (I have not) say the 7 is the better soundstage and imaging, due to the combing and lobing issue with the 10.George / NJ

Both have been listed for at least a month. The 10s are within a few minutes of me. The 7s are about a 30-40 minute drive.

Worth the trip, I'd opine -- alhough the price strikes me as a bit high. In 2021, though, it's hard(er) to judge vis-a-vis pricing.

@mcphatty00 , live close to you in Reading. Would definitely go for the 7s. Surprised I didn't see those advertised. Peerless 7s all day. If they are not beat, that seems to be a good price these days. Will benefit from a crossover refreshing for sure.

Follow up: 7b's or Monitor 70's?

This is for music listening, only.

My favorites of the older 80s vintage lines, were the 7b and the Rta11t. The 10 was just subpar to both those, IMHO.

I own the 10Bs, got hold of a pair of 7s with the Peerless tweeters because of the hype and my wife and I quite AB tested them. We slightly preferred the 10Bs maybe for a bit of extra bass slam, so sold off the 7s to a relative who is very happy with them. I don't have any problem with the 10B tweeter at all, but is all a matter of personal taste. I would never write off the 10s personally. That seems to be a minority view....but there you have it.
