Yep, I ordered a pair to get the SDA back in my life. I decided to get the Atmos modules too but not sure if I'll use them for home theater yet or not.

I wonder if this is the first of a series of cuts over the next year or two, or if it's more of a one time seasonal sale?

It’s a little surprising seeing a sale on things like this these days. A Toyota dealer near me that was known for routinely knocking a few grand off their new vehicles is currently marking up their Tacoma and Tundra trucks by $10 to $15 thousand bucks over sticker.
My guess is it may be related to releasing the Reserve line and noting the price difference with Legend being pretty high. Or it’s simply to move stock. Polk has always discounted after a while. -

Get past 118lbs?? I wouldn’t ever consider a tower under 100lbs a side again! That’s a saving grace on L800’s to me but still a tad on the light side! Still think they’re a great design and will do great most anywhere you plop them babies down!"if it's not fun, it's not worth it & remember folks, "It's All About The Music"!!

True. The messaging seems to indicate this is a short time deal. -

The L800s have arrived. Don't be too concerned about the weight. A UPS freight guy delivered them this afternoon by himself without damage to the boxes. These are well packaged speakers. Each box weighs about 150 lbs but the speakers only weigh 118 lbs a piece. That's only 18 lbs more than the LSiM 707s and way less than the old SRS 2.3 and 1.2 speakers. I had no problem shifting the boxes up a flight of stairs by myself. Moving the old SDAs around gave me lots of experience with taking advantage of pivot points.
These are destined to replace the LSiM 707s in my home theater system along with the Atmos modules, but I'll also be using a Parasound JC2 BP in bypass mode with them for two channel. -
Congratulations! Nice of them to arrive in time for the weekend. 😜Alea jacta est!

With the exception of the old SRT system’s main speakers these may be the most solid Polk speakers ever. Fit and finish is outstanding for the cost. The SDA cable and binding posts are even good quality.
I did not know there is a top grille on these since every video I have seen online showed them without it. They do have top grilles too. With the Atmos module installed got to make sure nobody sets anything on top of them. -
Congrats! Can't wait to hear your impressions after burn-in
-
Thanks. I have a feeling those 10 inch woofers may take quite a while to settle in. First one is set up. The packaging for protection during shipping and ease of removal on these is first rate.Post edited by Emlyn on

All in place. Listening to Eagles in high res at the moment direct from a Parasound JC2 to an A31. First impressions are SDA is in full effect. Transitions between drivers are excellent. Drums sound realistic. These are about 3 feet from front wall to the backs of the speakers with 6 or 7 feet to the sides. These are punchy without subwoofers. Center image is a little diffuse compared to some speakers but not unexpected because of SDA. Top end is quite a bit more revealing than the last couple LSi lines but not bright. I channel leveled from my receiver with an SPL meter and tested the JC2 bypass function but I have not run auto calibration or connected the receiver to the Atmos inputs yet. I switched back to an LSiM 704 from a 706 for space and placement considerations. No issues with that.
These are going to be fun. Similarities in sound to current mid-level Focal speakers with SDA added. Other speakers I was looking at were about double this price.
