^^^^ just as was Epicure's EPI 1000.
One EPI 1000, with designer Winslow Burhoe for scale.
From the era of the "wall unit" shelving

EPI 1000's from a local CL ad about a year ago. Asking $1,800.00. No Affil.
The ad went down fairly quick so they probably sold. Pretty tall speakers.
Can anyone ID the piece of gear to the left of the Pioneer RTR?
I believe that's a Sansui receiver to the left of the turntable and
a Nakamichi cassette deck below the Pioneer RTR.Post edited by aprazer402 on -

I see a Crown power amp -- and the tuner above it looks like (??) an Akai (rather than the rather sought-after Crown FM tuner of that era). EDIT: Noting the rack handles, the tuner might be Pioneer
as well. The tts are one Pioneer (PL-518 or similar/newer -- maybe the one with a meter on it; I forget the model number) and, by appearances, a Thorens. TD-166 (Mark II), maybe.
The EPI1000s are quite nice. I passed up a chance to get a pair at a very reasonable price a few years ago because I simply, honestly had no place to put them & use them. Still have some regrets about that.
Yes the receiver's a big Sansui, one of the earlier versions of the "G Series", sans digital FM display. Maybe a G-9000 (??) -- but maybe a bigger, badder one, too. Not an expert on that era of Sansuis.

Looks some Infinity speakers peeking out from behind the EPI's with AstroTurf on the wall behind (kind of gives the system a Masters Golf Tournament kind of feel).

Or maybe Verdi's "Anvil Chorus"?

Heard from the kitchen, "It sounds so real, dear!". -

The irony is that a brownout's probably more likely in 2021 than it was when that cartoon was new.

Not really a cartoon...
With their tanks and their bombs and their bombs and their guns
In your head, in your head, they are cryin'
In your head, in your head
Zombie, zombie, zombie-ie-ie
What's in your head, in your head?
Tom~ In search of accurate reproduction of music. Real sound is my reference and while perfection may not be attainable? If I chase it, I might just catch excellence. ~ -
