How Far Apart are the Serial Numbers on 'Matched' Pairs of Monitors?

Are the serial numbers always in a pattern; Identical, separated by a certain number or....??
How do you know if your speakers were sold as a matched set?
Thank you, Lee

Out of all the dozens of Polk speakers I've had, including old SDA models, I don't recall ever seeing consecutive serial numbers on a pair.
It's a marketing feature on some brands like Spendor that closely match crossover components and veneer for each pair. For most speakers, I'm not sure it really matters as long as the speakers leave the factory reasonably close to each other. -
Funny, I think all the ones I've had were consecutive.Stan

Since there is no law regulating serial numbers then they could use a random number generator to pick the serial number. Or a drunk, stoned employee could do it. Or they could sequentially assign serial numbers as the speakers are manufactured, but how they are boxed and shipped is random. No one knows. What if the right one were manufactured before the left? Would you wear them sequentially? I'm not sure which I could tolerate best.I disabled signatures.

It depends if you hear right to left or left to right.Stan

Ha! I appreciate it. Apparently no need to worry about buying single speakers if they're 'close enough'.
Thanks! -
When they loaded a freight truck with monitor 10s for distribution do you think they tried to keep all the boxes paired up so the serial numbers would be sold consecutively? I think the answer to that question would be no.

The only thing that matters is you get a LEFT and RIGHT for the SDA's.
I will say this
My factory 2.3tl crossovers were vastly different. When I first put them in place there was something "off" about them. When I removed them to recap and place new inductors on the new boards I spotted it right away. They had way different caps on each board. That explained right away why they just didn't image worth a hoot. Now they just disappear in the room, sound seems like it is coming out of the wall. It made good sense to me why the original owner used them for a few years and stuck them into a closet for 25yrs. -
My Monitor 10s are pretty close.

On 56039, it looks to me like someone broke the law and did remove that stub then felt guilty and stapled it back on.

Appears to be factory staples!! I agree, a Polklaw was broken!
