I worry about that guy.
I wanted to LOL your comment, but then I was afraid I'd be permanently shunned. -

Yea the last time he popped in he did a number on himself. -
It's kinda like a Kohl's charge card. If you don't use it every six months to a year, they close the account. Don't make us permanently shun you.
Kohl's has the distinction of being my least favorite store on the planet. Nothing in that entire store interests me in the least except for finding my wife and leaving. She needed to go there this week so I went next door to HD and caressed the $62.99 sheets of 1/2'' plywood and $7.00 2x4's. I'm so glad I don't have a building project right now and I pity the poor fellows that do -
Does your wife know you stroke wood?
-
-
Yeah Kohl's sucks it for sure. Ill take Belk any day over Blohls.

Ah man, I'm sorry Dave. I was concerned about you because I found a good deal on the internet on an audio component and you hadn't bought it. I knew something was amiss.

Thank you all for your outpouring of love and support.
I always knew it was here within CP. Love and support. Despite my absence, I thought about you guys a lot, but this was a journey I needed to travel by myself. Of course the Mrs was there by my side, grieving with me, and our son who lives with us, but honestly for me this was a road I never traveled. I had to figure out by myself the navigation through it.
You see, my brother Rob and I were best friends. The grief I experienced was so overwhelming, so intense, it was incapacitating. I'm actually getting a bit choked up as I type this. The pain is still just under the surface, and when I think about it, overwhelming.
Rob and I were less than 2 years apart. We did everything together. Growing up, and after high school, Rob decided to stay local, while I went off and traveled the world. Despite our separation, Rob and I talked almost every day. I could always count on Rob to be there for me. Whether it be personal advice, or anything, I could reach out to Rob and he would help me.
In a dark personal time (divorce) Rob dropped everything and drove to California from Chicago to come get me. To help me, and support his younger brother.
As some of you know, Rob was dealt a tough hand nearly 30 years ago. He was diagnosed with MS and his condition degraded to the point of immobility requiring 24/7 assisted care. He was frail, always catching something, and back in mid November 2020 got COVID. My long term plan was to move Rob to Michigan, in a facility, close to me. We were in planning discussions just the week prior!
Since I managed all of Rob's affairs, I got a call from his caregiver - Rob has a fever, he's incoherent, not eating, etc. I immediately had him sent to the hospital, where he was diagnosed with COVID the next day and eventually passed.
He spend the last 6 weeks of his life in the ICU, virtually alone. No visitors allowed. None. I was able to negotiate one visit, near the end, where he and I prayed together. For that I am eternally grateful. Other days, we would do video conferencing, but the nurses at that time were so overloaded I could only get a call in a few times a week. And most of those times he was incoherent - I only hope he heard my words. The frequent rotation of doctors would call me once/day. Every day it seemed I was talking to a new doctor.
The time he spent in ICU was terrible, he was alone, and his younger brother, who always needed him, could not communicate with him. I was alone too.
Early December he departed. Even his memorial service was surreal, with limited participants, video streaming, no gathering of family/friends afterwards. Surreal. I gave his Eulogy, but could not make it through to the end, I broke down, and the minister had to step in and conclude it for me.
Now, Rob is in a better place. Free of afflictions, and at peace. I will always love you Rob.
Thanks again to everyone who expressed their thoughts and condolences. It really means a lot to me. Still a tough road, but a little easier now that I'm back!
