RTI A7 lacking detail

Hi. I’ve had my setup with 3 x signature S30 for front stage. I’ve now purchased 2 x RTI A7 to use as front speakers with the intention of moving 2 x S30 to the rear surround. I’m running this of a Denon X2700H. I assumed I would get a better front stage with this setup but I’m not getting nearly enough clarity of the RTI A7 as I was getting from the S30. 3 x S30 provided much more crisp sound with richer detail. Is that the norm? The RTI A7 seems rather muted. The mids and treble seems muddy in comparison. Is it possible that there is an issue with the crossover or is it normal to get better sound quality of smaller S30?

    Tweeter working?
Did you re-run the room set up mode on the receiver?

Did you buy the RTI7's new or used ? First thought is non working tweeters. Second thought, is that you don't have the jumpers on the back installed. Third thought is that your speakers wires are mixed up or not properly connected.

Clarity is not a weak area of the RTiA speakers.

It may just be the sonic character as they have their midrange and upper midrange muted compared to most other Polk Speakers. Being so, the upper bass and treble will drown them out making them sound less detailed. Maybe using an Equalizer on those frequencies will bring them some life and detail in the midrange areas.

Never thought of using their S30 center channel speaker for stereo speakers. How did you mount them? Mounting on a wall looks like the only choice as they don't look to stable sitting vertically and horizontally look as it would diminish soundstage.

"Muddy treble" could be indicative of tweeter or crossover damage due to the previous owner driving them to hard and/or under powering them.

Your Denon is way underpowered. 95 watts per channel won't do it.

And that's with only 2 channels driven. Drive more channels and the wpc rating drops lower.

how much power are you running?
a speaker of that nature is not really going to come alive, imo, until you give it a few hundred watts. and i'm a big believer in headroom.
Just a dude who loves audio.

A 100 WRMS/channel separate amp is a good starting point. They’d be happier w/twice that.

Quantity is not always the answer, quality watts is the key

Ooops. Touché Trey. Quantity w/out quality is near pointless.

Irrelevant note to Trey: I owe you pics of “D” pads
