cody you seem like a nice guy and i wanted to thank you for all the help youve given me, but how can you tell if a amp is good for a sub i know its something to do with the numbers i just dnot get how you match them out, so what im asking is how it all works with matching amps and subs. if you dont feel like answering its cool but thanks alot again

    i AM a nice guy:)
theres a lot of factors on if amps and subs are compatible
    the main one is ohms
to keep it simple, i will use the most simple sub for reference
pretty much, the 'simple' subs are single voice coil 4 ohm subs
it gets more complicated from there...they have dual voice coil subs that can be wired in a huge variety of ways, but currently ALL MOMO subs are SVC(single voice coil) 4 ohm subs
if youre looking at a 2 channel amp for one sub, like you are doing, you need to look at the bridged output
in which case for that amp, is 400 watts
make sure the values are RMS or contiunous values
peak or max values are WORTHLESS
totally worthless, never, i repeat NEVER look at peak values
if youre looking for a mono, or 1 channel amp, you just look for the rating that is x amount of watts by 1 at 4 ohms
    it'll look like 400x1@4ohms
400 being the watts, 1 being the number of channels, 4 being the load or impedance, which is measured in ohms
next you match the RMS values
this is how many watts the sub can handle continously
or in an amps case, how many watts it can put out continuosuly
the sub you are looking at takes 400 watts RMS
the amp you listed puts out 400 watts RMS
    perfect
when you get into multiple subs and dual voice coil subs or subs with a different impedance other than 4 ohms is when things get complicated

very succinct, yay for cody... even if he does hate jl...

and clearly, modesty is at the top of the long list of cody's virtues... :D
