Sub connection

Can't get any sound from sub, everything is connected, green lights no sound. Checked levels on receiver still nothing. Any suggestions?

The method for testing the sub is to use a known source directly into it. If you have a DVD/CD player or even a smart phone send a line level signal into the sub with volume level all the way down. Start playing something and slowly turn up the sub's volume.
