Just looking for something to give my RTi150s low end more juice.

For say $150-200 ?

I've looked all over and everything is either 3-channel or 7-channel and/or well over $500...
- Sony 50"A3000 SXRD; Onkyo TX-SR 805
- Polk RTi150 mains; CSi30 center; FXi3 surrounds, R15 backs
- Velodyne CHT-12 subwoofer

First off, where is everywhere? There are tons of two channel amps for sale at places like eBay and Audiogon, but not at the prices you state. You're not being realistic.

Walk, I have a pretty nice Onkyo M5140, 2 ch. 105 wpc @ 8 ohm, I used to run by back surrounds until I got the B&K seven channel. I can do 150.00 + shipping. If you are interested let me know, she is 9/10 with only a rub mark on the top at the rear perfect sonically.

BTW I am away and will not have access to computer next week.

Wow! That's a good deal, and I would take it, except I'm still debating whether I should get an amp, or a better Sub. Right now I'm leaning towards the sub..

I did manage to find a couple of 2ch amps for less than $200 though. HK makes one, and heck I can pick up a crappy reciever at any store for $149..

That crappy receiver will make your speakers crappy. As will a crappy Amp for $200. Start with an idea of sound quality, then worry about the numbers. This forum seems obessed with the wrong numbers.

What is your source? I have a feeling its not a dedicated CDplayer, you'd be amazed how much more dynamic your speakers would become if you feed it good food from a decent source.

For myself a $200 upgrade on an AMP would be $200 I'd rather burn away, or flush down the toliet. I think i'd get as much satisfaction. It's not a question of being "rich, or having alot of money" quite the opposite. Because most people don't have money to throw away, SAVE it. Make your upgrades count, instead of spending money to do nothing.

    Oh really?

For $200 he could possibly get a Carver M200t amp *AND* an Audio Alchemy DITB outboard DAC. You tell me where $200 would be better spent and I'll register mail cash.

I don't think he buys "used" equipment..

Sorry, dude, but your way off base. Like gidrah said, 200 bucks can get you some good **** if you know what your looking for.

Walk, check around in the flea market, on ebay, and audiogon. I'm sure you'll find something.

I kinda like the M400 Carvers. Great sound, small package.

The $200 would be better left in his pocket. A used Carver amp won't cover up the preamp/pro sections of his AV receiver. He'd be better off getting a higher end Intergrated Amp with HT by-pass. The RTI speakers aren't hard to drive, a carver will only push what's being filtered further down the chain.

If you wanna spend the bread and buy something used and has a higher "number" then by all means. He'd get better base response out of a higher end 60 or 80 watt intergrated Amp.
