Cary SLP-05

Cary has been a unit I have wanted for a long time but have never been able to get my ears on one..

I know people love em, but would you pair it with a SS or Tube amp/s?? I was thinking SS plus less tinkering with tubes..

    The SLP-05 is a great pre. I had one for a couple of years. If I was to do it again I would pair it with a SS amp.

    Most seem to like a SS amp with a tube pre. There are exceptions obviously with very efficient speakers and low powered tube amps. OTL AMPS, ETC.

    You want a tube amp with balls, one that will throw out current enough to drive those tougher speakers.....prepare to pay a decent sum.

    The inbetween there is a tube integrated, which is attainable for most.

    Cary just had a really good sale on all their gear, marked down from their 'normal' Sale pricing.
