Here is the new toy Pioneer TT Voltage question also

As many of you know I have been going through a lot of gear. Much is mine I buy to compare and then the loser must leave as I cannot afford to funds tied up . Other items are from an older collector friend of mine in rough health. He seemed to think say 25 turntables were not as good as 26 and so on. One of the items he dropped off and I think will be min is pictured below It is a Pioneer PL 50L II He still has a PL70L. Made form 1981 to 84 and not really easy to get here as it was for the Japanese market along with the 30 (which is more common here) and the 70. Hard to find a lot of info on and most is not in English.however it is on the Vintage Knob .

Made back when I was in the bizz the build is great. The looks are unreal. Quiet smooth, oxygen free wiring, CG tonearm is interchangeable. Zinc assembly for TA mount Heavy Like the old Denons and so on. Too bad I am not a fan of manual TT. I can put the arm on but I want auto lift or return or something.I let the record finish and got up HOLY CRAP!! it lifted and the platter shut off!! I am IN!! Did not know that as again hard to find a manual.

It is a 100volt unit and am using a step down transformer. Often things can be rewired and some things do not seem to mind 100V 120V. but in looking at the wiring inside did someone change this ?? Wish I knew if it can be done on this or has it been done but really do not want to plug it into 120V even though I understand some have.
The units I am suing is pretty big and heavy Can anyone recommend a small 120 down to 100 converter other then a wall wart?? Thanks

Looks "funny". Not the clown kind.
I'd suggest checking www.vinylengine.com (maybe a SM there with info) and/or their forum.
    EDIT: Ne'ermind. :|

There doesn't appear to be a service manual for that model on Vinyl Engine, owner's manuals in Japanese which indicate use with 100VAC. Someone on eBay is selling the same turntable and has a recommendation for a step down transformer but part of the model number for the transformer is missing. There also seems to be a way of adding silicone damping to the tonearm by removing the cap of the tonearm's bearing assembly.

Thanks guys I put it on VE also. Ken, you still the man!! After some talk and thought and considering this is a very low draw item it seems like the best route is to not try and rewire it or try running it on 120. It runs perfectly with the step down at 100v so why mess with it I just need a smaller step down unit. I got a picture from a guy who has one and my transformer has definitely been replaced as his looks different. Keith
