I'm playing basketball with a old friend tonight, and before we go he states he wants to hear my car... I don't enjoy being judged by people... He is very impressed how my underpowered subs sound, especially through the backseat and metal plate I have seperating the trunk. So I go and get in his car and all I can say I was impressed by was the back massage I recieved... I couldn't hear a word he was saying but all the bass was so distorted it didn't matter. All I said was "yeah, cool." and told him to take it easy. I guess im surprised about this because I always thought that his car sounded really good, but that must only be from a few blocks away. I never really received a compliment from someone who doens't ride in my car often on how my setup sounds till tonight.
on a side note: 14 days till my B-Day, and my bday =
HiFonics 1500D....
so lame I'm going to be 18 and instead of going out and having a good time I'm going to spend all my money on this amp and gas.

One night of partying or years of pleasure from the sweet sounds of the Hifonics! You made the right choice.

A few years ago I was out at this shop in Waco looking around and got talking to one of the sales dudes and he was bragging about his car and all. We went out to look and he did have a nice set up. It was a late 90s Grand Am. He had all the amps mounted in the trunk and it was very clean and professional and the 2 15" Orion subs were bad **** looking.

Well we go sit in his car and he fires it up, warning me to let him know if I feel like Im going to puke. Well this thing was unbelievably loud! I couldnt hear anything even resembling high end frequencies, just this low rumble. Well actually I didnt hear that much at all, I felt it. Everything in my body vibrated. My hair felt like it was being blow forward with a hair dryer and my heart felt like it was going to stop. For the first few seconds it was cool, then it got annoying!

He was an SPL guy and said he competed now and then so I guess this was his thing.

It makes you wonder. Most of us here are SQ guys so this is kind of wierd to us why someone would spend all that time and money to make something that is so loud you cant even hear the music! To each their own I suppose.

Me? Ill take a set of MM6s, an MM124 and a couple of stout amps and be just dandy!

that's another thing we discussed while sitting after our game... how once you start with all this, it's just too gd hard to stop no matter what happens. I can't imagine having to put all my stock stuff back into my car... i'd go insane

no ****, i get in my mom's car and im almost tempted to turn the **** off
you cant see the speakers, there are no grills, its just behind the panels
it sounds muffled, the speakers are **** speakers anyway, even for stock, and the panels rattle...it sounds disgusting
4 coaxials and some sound deadening would do a world of difference, even without a better HU or amp

    Addictive as hell!

I put together my little budget system thinking that would satisfy me and I could move on but nope. Now I cant wait to upgrade to all kinds of cool things.

Ive already done the MB/JL/PPI thang in my last Ram so now Im wanting to go with something different in the high end section. Focal/Diamond/Orion is the direction Im leaning most in but it changes daily.

Recapping all my past systems I guess it would be:
    86 Ford Ranger
MTX road thunder boxes with 8" sub and horn tweeter
    Pioneer 100x2 amp

    88 Olds Cutlass
Kenwood speakers in dash and rear deck
    2 MTX Terminator 12s
    Coustic amps

    94 Suzuki Samurai
    Kenwood 6x9s enclosed
    same old Pioneer 100x2 amp

98 Nissan Frontier/00 Dodge Ram reg cab
    MB Quart Discus 6.5
    2 JL Audio 8W0s
    2 Precision Power 50x2 amps

    02 Ram quad cab
    Momo 6x9s
    MTX Thunder6500 8"
    Alpine amps

im lucky - my mom got the premium system. yeah, yeah, premiums systems aren't worth it, but this one actually sounds pretty good, especially for a stock system. i was quite surprised the first time i heard it.

what I don't understand about my mom is she claims her car sounds good, but then she goes all out when it comes to home audio... whatever floats your boat i guess.

my mom listens to me to an extent about all this, then she just zones out. This whole birthday thing is making me way nervoud because she gets all **** whenever I start talking about it being 2 weeks away, who knows what's up their sleeve. In a way I want to find out, and in a way a don't. Atleast I know I'm not being sent to space camp or anything like that!
