I needed a pair of short RCA's and ended up getting a 12 inch pair of the Taipans for hooking up the Audio Fidelity Dac to my Node 2 streamer. I didn't think for $33 they would be much but the quality surprised me enough to order another pair at 6 inches. I found out about these through Schitt Audio, perfect lengths to add a little cable management to the desk area.

I was surprised at these little guys for the price and the name of the Company.

wow, they are matched for right and left channel but they don't have arrows for signal direction?

Directional arrows on RCA's always leave me wondering if it actually matters. Don't get me wrong, I adhere to the instructions, but I wonder if there actually is a difference...

If there's a shield in addition to the two legs of the signal-carrying wire*, and it is only connected at one end, then, yes, the arrows are meaningful. Usually (AFAIK, and I am too lazy to double-check!) the arrow points from the source to the load (e.g., CD player to preamplifier or preamplifier to power amplifier). This (again, from memory) helps drain 'noise' (keep it away from the load).

ok, I wasn't quite that lazy -- besides I hate editing posts :#
    This looks right ;) see posts 3 & 4.

  • Thank you. That makes sense.

At this point, most of my ahem "interconnects" are home-made from Mogami (shielded) cable. I connected one end of each cable's shield to the connector at that end, and put either a little shrink wrap sleeve (or just a piece of masking tape, lazy m-of-o that I be) on the "source" (shield connected) in. You can see some of them in this "intermediate phase" image of the back of the Bryston BDA-1 DAC (thanks @Bluefox! :) ).

    Youse guyses are good. :)

I did a level matched, double-blind test. I cannot hear the dust in a statistically meaningful way (i..e., p was >0.05).
Besides, if I don't use a flash, the dust is invisible. B)

I bought and used some "World's Best" XLR to RCA cables to help enable our hyrid (live/outside and Zoom) church services in the summer & fall of 2020. I was very happy with them (FWIW).

Live in person, live stream via Zoom, and live (with zero latency!) via FM microtransmitter to cars in the parking lot. :) It was fun to put together and to do -- we had a mixture of live and canned music, too.

Back on topic, I needed a couple pair of 12" cables myself and didn't want to break the bank. These use Mogami cable and have a 10 year replacement warranty. Are they the World's Best Cables as the name implies? Of course not, but they're not bad for $23.95.
