In Ceiling Speakers

Looking to bring in some ceiling mounted speakers to get "real" feel for Atmos set up. I currently have a 9.2 home theater. The processor is Marantz 7702 MKii. I have been very happy with the set up, but do feel that when watching Dolby Atmos tracks/movies, the system does not punch out a well defined 3D sound effect.

On the current set up, the four surrounds are FXi A6. The front heights are RTi A3. All four surrounds are about 2 ft above ear level, while the height speakers are almost 4 -5 ft above ear level. The processor can add two more channels. So thinking about going from current 9.2 set up to a 7.2.4 set up.

I am looking on-line and Polk Audio 80 F/X-RT comes up on a few forums. What do you guys say? I am a complete newbie for this type of speakers. I have some work cut out for me to get some education. Budget is about $500.00 for a pair for now. Please let me know your thoughts.

  • You may want to consider the 90-RT or 70-RT (if you have the depth needed). For atmos duties i believe its a better option.

(please don't ban me. Am only trying to help)

the 80F/X RT are good, that is what I use. If I could do it all over I'd just get VC60.
When I was a kid my parents told me to turn it down. Now I'm an adult and my kids tell me to turn it down.
