The very stuff legends are made of. This is NOT the infamous player that generated a fabled road trip, but it's replacement. :p

The 505 is one of the very best out there for SACD playback, though it also can elevate regular CD's as well. Solid construction and attention to detail are superb, as you would expect from a player costing over 10k when new. Laser assembly was replaced by the folks at Krell 6 months ago, and I may have played 6 discs in it since. Faceplate has a minor scuff across the top edge, but it is invisible from three feet, or when placed inside a cabinet. The top also has some scuffs from having other gear on top of it. These blemishes were all present prior to my purchasing it and in no way detract from the enjoyment of owning a piece of gear such as this. The only reason for the sale is that I simply do not use it, and find for my needs, my Oppo does a superb job.

Pictures will be added later. My price includes shipping.

Which Oppo thread? I am kind of behind the times.

    John,
I am interested as I am rebuilding my audio systems.

This is end-game for sure. Sadly I am no longer playing the game for which it is intended.

You have any sexy pictures of it? The player that is. Feel free to message me your thoughts versus the Oppo. I have experience with Oppo as well.

I can say with confidence that the Krell digs deeper into the music than the Oppo does, particularly with regular CD's. It tends towards analytical sounding but does not give up the warmth that you expect to hear with SACD. The only real drawback I have with it is the display tends to be far to bright, so I just turn it off.

@halen I said the name of the thread above. “Candy store for Oppo”. Just do a search for it.

Going to keep this here until the 1st. After that I will put list it elsewhere at a higher price. As has been said by others, this is a stellar, end-game player that has been freshly serviced by Krell and given a clean bill of health, and a new SACD pickup.

I would like this to stay in the family...

Good deal, I would buy this if I didn't already have two SACD players.

It is not, unfortunately...the person who bought it has a few gears missing from his transmission, but seems a decent guy...
