Found a CD player in my closet ....

I forgot I had this ..
Thought I had discarded it.

Tray won’t open , can hear the motor trying....
I remember it was giving me trouble when I stopped using it 15 years ago or so ..

May be time to open it up and see what’s up ...

Try some fresh grease that’s good with plastics on the drawer mechanism. I got some at a hobby shop and bought my dad’s old Marantz back to life after my Music Hall needed a new laser, and the first one ordered did not work either. The Marantz is still “temporarily” serving as my transport.

    yep,

took it apart and looks like it needs some grease on the tray's rail....

appears to work fine other than that...

from what I remember , it was a very good player back in the day.

The tray belt is slipping, common problem.

My Denon DVD-2910 just started having issues opening the tray today. Must be bad karma or just an old belt.

Denon used very cheap lasers (Hitachi I was told) in most all to way to the totl. It will play most SACD/DVD-A but will choke on CD. My 2900 still works good but the drawer needs an adjustment as it fights coming open. I'm afraid I'm going to get an expensive SACD stuck in it, so it's resting ;)

Yea those lasers at the time were like 10.00ea.

Maybe I'll youtube it one day and dive in 😂

I took the cover off mine , found a “tab”on the side that locks the tray....
Secured it “in” with a piece of tape so I can manually open and close the tray.

Other than that it seems to work fine , plays every cd I’ve tried in the last couple days...

Belts appear to be easily accessible, and are cheap on eBay - like 15 bucks - takes 2 of them.

I’ll get around to it someday .... honestly don’t really have a need to play cd’s anymore , though.

I noticed that Tidal sounds much better ....
