Home Theater help (SDA-SRS 1.2)

Recently my parents have said that they would like to be able to use their Polk SDA-SRS 1.2 speakers via bluetooth. Since I am a simple caveman who knows nothing of the ins and outs of audio I was hoping that you fine folk here could help me pick out a proper receiver that can drive these things and be capable of bluetooth so that I can surprise them when they get back for Christmas.

I forgot to mention that the receiver they currently have is a Sony STR-GX10ES.

If they are satisfied with the performance of that receiver, they could go with a Bluetooth Receiver like this one, which can use RCA cables to connect up to their receiver's inputs. I don't have any experience with Bluetooth so hopefully other will weigh in. If it were me, I'd prefer a music streamer. The inexpensive but high quality route would be a used Squeezebox Touch (no longer manufactured) with an external DAC and they could install an app on their phone or pad that would serve as their graphical user interface/remote control. I believe the sound quality of that setup would exceed that of Bluetooth and give those speakers what they deserve.

Could I stream to this receiver with a NAS? I've been looking in forums for people streaming to AV receivers but they all seem to mention more modern receivers.

Find new speakers and receiver capable of bluetooth.

I'm sorry we are hampered by my inexperience with Bluetooth. It's a lossy form of music listening and therefore something I haven't been interested in, thus my ignorance. They do sound better with an external DAC apparently, but still somewhat lossy. If I had to take a stab at it, I'd say that probably not, unless the NAS in question had some sort of transmitting ability, or a transmitter adapter. The original question has gotten much more complicated. Someone please weigh in.
However, I'm *fairly certain* that the NAS would work beautifully with something like the Squeezebox Touch.George / NJ

What's the budget? That Audioengine B1 is $185. If you added an external DAC like the iFi nano idsd LE, you're talking about $139, but looks like it is discontinued but still available in places.

Here's a Squeezebox Touch bidding for $80 so far. The ones I bought I got for $103 and $130 on eBay. This one doesn't have a remote but they will prefer to use their phones (with an app like Orange Squeeze etc.) or pads or a laptop with the Web Based Interface of Logitech Media Server:

That is a very capable receiver, but by this time is due for a recap. Bluetooth sucks.Political Correctness'.........defined

I have that one connected to my Parasound system so my wife can stream from her iPhone. Its pretty decent, probably better out there but we are talking bluetooth.Stan

Correction: That Audioengine B1 Bluetooth Receiver I linked above only has a digital coax output, so that iFi DAC I linked would not work with it.
Anyways, I still feel like you would be best off with something like a Squeezebox Touch and avoid bluetooth altogether.George / NJ
