I have a Panasonic SX 205 receiver. I need to know if it has an internal pre amp. The receiver and turntable have been is storage for @ 5 years. When I play a record, the sound is VERY faint. If the receiver has a pre amp then I probably have a bad cartridge or needle.

Have you heard of Google?

I can find a Pioneer Sx 205 but not a Panasonic, are you sure that's what you have?

Regardless of the receiver brand it will have a pre-amp built in. Which input on the back of the receiver did you connect the turntable to?Political Correctness'.........defined

He might be referring to a "phono preamp".

The Pioneer SX-205 does appear to have a phono preamp -- FWIW.

@storefixx what phono cartridge are you trying to use?

Now, and again FWIW, there was apparently (!) a Technics (Panasonic's hifi brand) SA-205
seems very similar, at least cosmetically, to the SA-203.

I don't see too much info online on the SA-205, but this thread suggests that it does indeed have a phono preamp onboard.
