I currently am running polk lsim 703, 704c and have some 702f/x for the rear that I plan to run the wire for soon. Currently the 703s and the 704 is run off a denonx1500h. I feel like the speakers are begging for more power and adding the 702f/x and possibly 2 atmos speakers won't help the situation.
It is my understanding that I will need to get a new reciever in order to throw amp on at least my left/right channel. Is this correct?
I was hoping to wait until next year ish to grab a new avr when hdmi 2.1 and some other tech is more implemented but I'm afraid I may need to upgrade sooner?

The x1500h only has preamplifier outputs for two subwoofers, so yes you would need to get a higher end receiver or AV preamp/processor to be able to use a separate amplifier.
Do you have a subwoofer though? If not, one or two of these would help out...

Run all the speakers as "small" with a couple of subwoofers and that might work out well for you even in the long term. Subwoofers are likely to stick around for a long time in a system even after you would upgrade the receiver. The previous generation of receivers are being discounted now as the new lines of HDMI 2.1 receivers are coming out. -
A subwoofer would take substantial burden off your AVR. 80Hz and below takes a lot of power.afterburnt wrote: »They didn't speak a word of English, they were from South Carolina.

Sorry guys. I guess I should mention that I have a SVS pb2000.
I'm probably just gonna hold off for now and try to wait out next gen recievers and grab an amp for the left/right/center. -
Are you familiar with the song Space Cadet by Kyuss?afterburnt wrote: »They didn't speak a word of English, they were from South Carolina.
