Dang. Misfits and Minor Threat have $1,500+ LPs? I never would have guessed.afterburnt wrote: »They didn't speak a word of English, they were from South Carolina.

I sent that to my brother and he said the same thing. He had a couple of those records, though they wouldn't have been in the shape required to fetch those prices.I disabled signatures.

I have none of those...

There's a funny comment at the bottom of the Pink Floyd one in the Reviews section.

The funny thing is, I have most of those albums, but I got tired of them and turned them into candy dishes. I also have a clock...Where’s the KABOOM?!?! There’s supposed to be an Earth shattering KABOOM!!!

What is your guys' single most valuable LP according to Discogs?
I haven't looked at the value of my collection on there in a few years. Every time I buy a new record I add it to my Discogs collection.
A 2014 reissue of Kyuss "Blues For The Red Sun" that I bought for $20 probably new is now selling for around $200.afterburnt wrote: »They didn't speak a word of English, they were from South Carolina.

Timely question. I was just looking through my collection on Discogs the other week. I don't have any really expensive ones, but noticed most of what I've purchased has gone up in price.
I have a Mojave 3 album that goes from between $100 - $230, but mine has a blem on one track that is not visible, but causes audible distortion in parts of the track. It wouldn't be sellable at these prices.
All the original Mojave and Slowdive stuff fetches high-ish prices. It's this way for a lot of the stuff I look for, so I learned a while back that I was only going to be getting my favorites on vinyl.
Another I have is a box set for a band called Luna. I think this one is still available from the label, but some are listed for more on Discogs.
I wish Chris Isaak would release Baja Sessions on vinyl. That would be a great album for Vinyl Sessions.I disabled signatures. -
If we're doing sets as well then mine would change to the Johnny Cash American Recordings box set.afterburnt wrote: »They didn't speak a word of English, they were from South Carolina.

If we're going with max values, I've got some real surprises. Different list going with median values.
Top 3 Max Values:

Going to median values, Sigur Ros stays number one, but 2 & 3 are:

Here's mine. My copy has never been played, just opened it to look at the records: https://www.discogs.com/Shiroh-Sagisu-Neon-Genesis-Evangelion/release/7460218
I bought it when it was first released for $60.
Edit: For some reason Discogs is defaulting to putting everything in German text right now.

Had to save this one for later just to see what the hype is about. The vinyl cover is much more interesting than the album art they have on Tidal.Analog: MoFi MasterTracker > MoFi UltraDeck > Sutherland 20/20

It's just because it was a super limited pressing, and because Eva fans like myself are crazy.
I don't really have any interest in selling my copy, but I do think I should actually give it a spin one of these days.

Now I have to feel bad playing it because of it's arbitrarily inflated price? Or just say screw it and spin it daily?
-
Music is meant to be played not sealed and displayed.afterburnt wrote: »They didn't speak a word of English, they were from South Carolina.

Too much vinyl, not enough time to play it all.
-
I'm just saying personally value doesn't dictate whether or not I would keep a record unplayed and sealed or listen to it whenever I want to.
Within reason I suppose. If one of my records somehow turned out to be rare and increase in value to several grand after buying it at regular price I'd probably just sell it, buy another cheaper pressing of the album, and pocket the cash.afterburnt wrote: »They didn't speak a word of English, they were from South Carolina.
Village Idiot of Club Polk -
What if that was the only pressing though and it was never going to be re-pressed?
-
I'd still sell it. I might feel different if I made more money possibly but a thousand + dollars or a single album is an easy decision for me.afterburnt wrote: »They didn't speak a word of English, they were from South Carolina.

I agree, I'd play it or sell it. The only reason I'd keep a "jewelry" copy would be if I was lucky enough to have two.
But if I have a record I can't bring myself to play, then that's a record I can't bring myself to keep.
And $600 gets a lot of records you could spin with joy, or a nice payment towards new gear.Analog: MoFi MasterTracker > MoFi UltraDeck > Sutherland 20/20
