Soundstage seems to come only from center channel

Hi all. I'm a Polk newbie and a 5.1 newbie as well. My room is rectangular, 120 wide and 150 long, with curtains along the left-hand side of the room along with a small dining table. On the right is a small vanity.

I listen to music in two-channel and it seems to frequently sound as if it is coming only from the center speaker, which is in front of my TV. For listening to singers, this is great, but I would like the soundstage for the instruments to be wider and possibly deeper.
My left and right speakers -- RTi a3s -- and 62 inches apart and roughly six inches from the back wall. Both are 15 inches from the side walls.

I am extremely limited in my options to move them much more than where they are, unless I buy some stands and bring them out into the room.

What do you recommend? Should lessen the toe-in angle?

And thanks in advance!

* A follow-up: I reduced the toe-in, which has fixed the problem

But if you have ways I can make it sound even better, I'm all ears B)

So, that is basically 10' by 12.5', which is the same size as my HT. While cramped, I don't have any issue distinguishing between Left, Right, and Center. For music it is cramped, but still sounds good, considering the circumstances. What is your gear for playing music, the amp, and the cables?

  • Thanks much, but I reduced the toe-in and that fixed the problem. I have a Denon x250bt avr. One day I will get a Pass Labs amp ;)

The cables are generic, with 16 gauge for the front speakers and 14 gauge for the rears.
