Gadzooks. There is another hurricane coming later today into the Texas/Louisiana border. Is this hurricane season the new normal, or the start of even worse hurricane seasons. Whatever, it is a real mess now. Good luck everyone.

    There have been a lot of "named storms" (25) this year but "only" like 9 hurricanes..

    The scientists predicted only around 15-20 and were way off.

    2005 set the record for hurricanes with 14... (the old normal)

    I wonder if the smoke cloud created by the wildfires out west has had an impact on the number of tropical systems we have seen late in the season this year?

    I remember it well because I was in the middle of a complete gut out and remodel of what was to become my new Galveston home.

    We were at the sheetrock and wall finishing stage and I lost my sheetrock and contractors, they'd ran off to Florida. I had general contractor buddies of mine from all over the state calling me if I had leads for contractors. Florida was paying a premium to rebuild which left other states in dire need to finish existing projects and start new ones.

    I pretty much had to finish to project myself. Missed my wife's Xmas deadline move-in...and that was the year it snowed Xmas day in Galveston.
