I'm all about a golf outing! If we were going to get 4 or 5 foursomes (a LONG shot).....I would see about getting something together with one of the local courses but I don't *think* we'll have that many players. That said, there are several nice courses within a couple miles of the house.......figure 30ish for greensfees and cart.

I'm going to keep harping on this to get as many folks as possible to come on out. One, if we want Polk sponsorship, it makes sense. Two, I'm trying to involve a local audio dealer and he is a good guy but he's not real keen on loaning me a bunch of stuff for 5 or 6 guys, you know?

Lastly, I'd like to dedicate the gathering to the memory of our dear, departed forum member Shane 'Nascarmann' Mann who passed a while back. Not sure the best way to do that, if you guys have ideas, lemme know.

Far as the food goes, what's everyones thoughts there? Obviously, I will have a keg of beer in the kegerator and misc brands in the fridge plus plenty of soft drinks and so forth. I'm thinking, depending on turnout, of possibly doing 1/2 pig at my in-laws and have some real BBQ and all the goodies. Still working that angle though.

In keeping with the alcohol........I've got a suggestion for a contest, blowing chunks for distance from the back deck.

I say if we do Golf, we do the first offical Club Polk '1 Club Tourney'. Pick 1 club, you have to use it and only it for the whole course.

Makes for good times, I know that probably won't fly, but what the hell.

    Projectile vomit? I'm SOOOO there.

    Ok,

I will be winning this one ;)

As far as Golf count me out, sorry never picked up that game. Sorry to say, and I live in Golf capital of the world (maybe) Orlando.

Done that with a 5 Iron. A 170-180 yd club will get to "most" par 4s in two shots and "most" par 5s in three shots. Enough loft to chip and still use to putt. Bunkers are tough. This is a good way to get some excercise while walking a course without lugging a bag. Also a good way to work on your mid iron shots (which the average golfer rarely practices).

Makes for a better match after a few (or a lot of) beers though...

You need a 5 iron to reach 180? I can do that with a 7 iron. :D Mind you, I don't play nearly enough to be able to do that consistently, but when I actually make good contact and all, I can do it with a 7. :D:D

    Sid,

You got your mom to bring you there, I wish to thank your mom. I didn't want to add some much travel time to myself, I felt guilty backing out when I asked where you where at. Look forward in seeing all there. :)

    Sid and Dezi,

No problem with you two coming down, however, the gathering Friday night is going to be an adult event (re: alcohol ). I'm trying to be diplomatic about it but I doubt your Mom would approve of you two being at that type of event nor do I wish to incur the liability. I'll have to do some thinking about that. If your Mom wants to come and keep an eye on you, I suppose that's fine. Eh, I'll give this some thought.

    Saturday is a different story....

That is a serious camera! From what I've read, Canon has a huge hit on it's hands with that one. Between the 2 of us, we should have more than enough incriminating photos to blackmale everyone out of their audio equipment, ;)

IMHO the best out there for the money, even some pro's use it as a back up.

The next step is like going from 1k to 4-5k.

I will have to bring my laptop to get pictures off memory card as I only able to take 70 to 100 pictures on the card I have now. And or to this I can install to camera download software to Troy's computer so he can have all the shots.

BTW each picture is like 2.5 to 3 meg but the detail is something else :D

WOW Troy, thats going wayyyyy back in terms of PC years.

I'll bring my PCMCIA adaptor so images from my 340mb Microdrive can be downloaded to Joe's laptop if he wishes. I could just store all images and wait till I get home also. Whatever we choose at the time.

Troy, is your home away from a big city area? I may tote my telescope along to do some night sky viewing. The more toys the merrier!

Well guy's my laptop is no big deal with a Pent II 300mhz 4gig or 8gig can't remember  (getting old) but all in all it will work. Now as for as uploading to net on dial up from laptop I give that 40% if you have a broadband connection then no problem. Either way when I get back there would be no problem posting.
