Six hundred dollar bed?

I need a bed for my guest room and there are too many choices. Any advice is welcome.

They gave us a great deal on a Beautyrest.
It’s a great bed, makes no sound, very comfortable, pillow top. They have others, but we think they make a all around good bed.
Edit- an air mattress isn’t a bad idea either!

In all seriousness -- for occasional company, the inflatable beds of "today" (read: the last 20 years or so) are comfortable and even don't look half bad when "made up".
I used one for the last six months I worked full time (an era I call my "work release program") & lived in an apartment in MA during the week. It was fine.

(The loudspeakers were quickly upgraded to Polk Monitor 5s, but I don't think I took a photo of them in the apt).

Seriously? Everyone knows that the audiophile college student uses confer blocks...

As for the bed, this is what we bought for my daughter, and I built a platform frame: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00Q7EPSHI?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title

My wife and I have slept on it and is a little softer than we prefer, but still a really solid mattress and much better that most mattresses we are forced to endure at family visits 😂...

    confer? as in Pine?
I think you're mistaking the stereo stand of 2x12 and concrete block. That was mine for decades.

Or he got bit(ten) by autocorrect. :p

Mrs. H and I had the cinderblock/pine board shelving motif for... umm... quite a while post-grad school.

  • I have a Casper mattress and really like it. Have owned it for about two years now. I was hesitant to make the jump to a foam mattress, but unless it starts going downhill quickly starting now, I think I’m sold on them.

If you buy it when it’s on sale at Costco, I think you can get a queen or full size for not much more than $600... maybe $650-700.

Bought a queen a few years back for our guest room, I think it was about 4-500, can't remember. It's seldom used and the first guest that slept on it weighs 350 minimum. I slept on it a few weeks later and his weight ruined the mattress. It feels crooked when ya sleep on it.

We actually put our 4th / guest bedroom together on a tight budget. For the little that we spent, I think it came out great. The Mrs. came up with an aquatic theme and we shopped budget stores and craigslist. For the mattress, we got a bed-in-the box Modern Sleep Advantage 8" Innerspring for ~ $156 from Walmart / Amazon. I really didn't expect much but the reviews were positive. Its been about 4-5 years and this thing far surpassed my expectations. It's supportive and has been comfortable for all that have slept on it. I tried it out also and slept well also!

Picture of the mattress. The Mrs. found some matching aquatic themed fabric and we covered the visible edge of the box spring with it.

The welcome sign the Mrs. found and enhanced using sea shells.
    b6pauofqn8rp.jpg

Pic of the room. The headboard squares are peal-n-stick that I got from Aldi. The glass side tables I found on CL. The Mrs. made the wall sconces and the frames over the bed have pics from our trip to Belize years ago. All else is discount store stuff.

Here's the closet with a Lancaster table I found on CL, and a towel warmer I got from Aldi.

A view of the desk/ cubby as viewed from the bed. The floating desk I found on CL. The artwork the Mrs. made and had laying around. I put it on the wall because it matched. I do plan to replace it with with a TV that I will frame to make it look like artwork. I've considering a used Samsung Frame TV I saw on FB Marketplace.

Close-up of the desk with all of the nick knacks the Mrs. put together. The cool thing is the Himalayan Salt Lamp. I hang out there sometimes with just the lamp on listening to my Bluetooth speaker and surfing the web. The Mrs. and the daughter use this area to paint their nails.
