    You're sending me one?

Yes. Send payment of $5000 to me and I’ll ship it tomorrow.

Let me demo it for a couple years and then I decide if I want it or not.

How about I you send it and I'll just keep right on owing you, because I wouldn't want to cheat you out of it.

Ha ha. In the meantime snag a Squeezebox Touch to tide you over. I got one yesterday and it's fantastic. No more packet noise from my noisy computer USB.

But it will only truly shine when I install the applet that lets me use my USB DAC with it.

Interesting. I'm using my Toshiba laptop with the Skullcandy audio card via USB 3.0 to my Cambridge Audio 851N and I love it!

One of the biggest noise contributors I've found in USB audio is having an external hard drive connected.

I found that unplugging the drive's power or installing a separate USB card for the DAC addressed it.

It's a very specific noise in the signal that seems to occur on an interval.

In my experiences with this issue, it's been a series of short, fast pops, and sometimes a sound that's a bit like bad tuning squawk.

More apparent with headphones. Very uncomfortable.
    I disabled signatures.

In my case, with my external USB iFi nano iDSD (is the name long enough?), when I added the iDefender which allowed me to use the iPower low noise 5V power supply, it lowered the noise floor so much that you could actually see and hear the packet noise, which was an 8kHz spike and at it's 2x multiple of 16kHz. Probably other multiples above that which are inaduble and the speakers can't reproduce. It is definitely worse if I have a browser open like Chrome and the more tabs are open the worse it is. This is with the iPurifier3 and many chrome tabs open. iFi felt bad and gave me a free iPurifier3 but it didn't get rid of the packet noise, although it improved my SQ tremendously:

This is with only the TIDAL app open (no browsers at all) and the iPurifier3fowbekr6w0ve.png

PS: I will re-do these tests with the Squeezebox Touch when I install the applet and IF it really works and allows me to use the external DAC. This is pretty exciting.

I guess I'm lost. Isn't a streamer supposed to take the computer out of the equation (for internet streaming at least)? Or are you using only the DAC in your streamer? If so, why do you have an audio card in between the laptop and the DAC?

The audio card is in the laptop. I use the laptop when streaming Tidal for two reasons.
    1. It's far more convenient to navigate than using the android app.
    2. Certain bass heavy digitally recorded tracks just seem bloated when using the CA app to stream Tidal. Maybe it's just a personal preference but I don't ever get "music fatigue" using the CA as a DAC but I do use it to stream digital radio which don't seem to have that issue.

I'd like to add that I never had this issue when using the Cambridge Connect android app but when they replaced it with the new Stream Magic app, that's when I noticed this. Though the newest app is far more user friendly than the older Cambridge Connect but it's still not worth it to me. Now if the presentation using the android apps were clearly superior and navigation was better I'd be using the app of course.

Keep in mind every component in your system, from the shape of your room to the capacitors inside your speakers can and will affect the overall presentation that reaches your ears. Then there's your ears... :#

Your ears are the most important thing, I got my ears cleaned at the doctor and I had supersonic hearing for a while.
