I am selling a couple of phono preamps
Van Alstine Vision phono preamp with power supply for MM or MC Works great and looks great. Considered one of the best under $600 See Absolute Sound and Tone Mag reviews Asking $275
Vincent PHO 8 Includes poer supply and cords Does not power up Suspect power supply issue Fuse is fine. I am betting an easy repair that I just do not have time for Asking $85

PM coming for the Pho 8.
I'll be ordering a turntable on Saturday. This might be just what I need for a beginner. -
Got it today. Very well packed. If it sounds as good as it looks I'll be very happy.
Thanks Keith -

Were you able to repair it and get it to power on? -
I exhausted my skills. I tuinknit is the switch or the big poly switch attacjed to the switch. I'm going to take it to a local TV repair guy tomorrow and see if he can isolate the problem.

I have a Pho 8, paired with a 1974 vintage Techincs SL-1350 serves me well. My system is low budget, almost ghetto.
But that VIncent is a real decent pre. I think I paid $299 new on sale 3 years ago.The best way to predict the future is to invent it.
It is imperative that we recognize that an opinion is not a fact. -

If its a lost cause ill buy his Van Alstine if he still has it.
-
So its lightning season here in FL and the repair guy is back up 45 days or so. So I'll contact someone else.
Btw, there is still a Val Alstine for sell in this thread. -
THE VA sold CH46E sent you a PM with suggestion

So after some help on the pho...ne from a local vintage hifi repair shop, it appears the power transformer is bad. I get 120v in but zero out when there should be 18v. So I have a email into Vincent Pho asking to purchase a new power supply transformer. Not really expecting much help since my last email asking where to send it for repair went unanswered.
We shall see. -
Send some pics of the transformer...shouldn't be very hard to find a 120v AC to 18v DC transformer..."Some people find it easier to be conceited rather than correct."

It looks like 18, 18 , 16 v on the output. ????
Just so everyone is clear, I purchased this from @geppy1 knowing it did not work. I knew this going in. -

So after seeing the picture i posted would this transformer still work? -
Doubt it would fit in the enclosure. I have a few pulled up on my work computer at Digi-key that should work. I will post up some options tomorrow."Some people find it easier to be conceited rather than correct."

That would be awesome man. Thanks.
I don't know how to order transformers. Just don't know much about them other than what they do. -
So can I ask one more favor?
Unscrew the transformer from the chassis and snap pictures of both sides?

Sure thing. Give me few. I'll do it now. -

Awesome. Let me see what I can come up with. The 18+18 secondary is easy...its that 3rd secondary at 16 that is being a PIA."Some people find it easier to be conceited rather than correct."

@ZLTFUL
Any luck?? I'm calling audio advisor back tomorrow. I spoke with a guy there but said a person he needed to speak with was on vaca.
I've had no luck so far.Post edited by CH46E on -
I keep running into roadblocks with that third secondary.
And what I *do* find that has that third secondary ends up being WAY too big to fit into the stock power supply enclosure.
Sorry...has been pretty chaotic at work lately with a big management changeover."Some people find it easier to be conceited rather than correct."
