    By that time, it's too late and you'll fry something. I think your mistake is thinking that an amp is used for loudness....it isn't.

    Monitor 70's is a good all around speaker for movies and music, but it's at the lower end of the scale in comparison to Polks other offerings. It's an easy to drive speaker too which doesn't require gobbs of power. If you like loud, something like a Klipsch speaker or PA speaker may be more up your alley. They are made to play loud, without toasting things.
