Is Bi-Wiring Recommended?

I just recently Bi-Wired two pairs of Polk 2000i's. I am using a 15-20 year old SAE 200 watt per channel amp with A and B speaker outputs. I have connected 2 pairs of wires to each amp teminal and connected one set each of these wires to the high and low inputs on each speaker. After doing this I noticed a distinct increase in the volume being produced at levels that were before almost inaudible.
My question...After Bi-Wiring the way I did, did I change the ohms level into each speaker (from 8 to 4)? Does using both the A and B output on the amp affect the speakers in any way? The change was quite noticeable that's why I ask. I did remove the jumpers from the back of the speakers. My amp is an SAE A502 made in Korea. One more question...Does just using both amp outputs have an affect on the ohm output? I don't want to ruin anything. Thanks, Erik

Hey Guys:
I maybe lame but how about a response that says something related to my question. What's ghetto about my question...a 15 year old amp? I'm just wondering what I exactly did to the system to cause the change. Call me ghetto, call me whatever..Thanks. -
Erik,
I didn't mean to offend you. Some of us on the forum had this discussion before, and I deemed it "ghetto bi-amping." You see, what you're doing isn't bi-wiring at all; it's actually bi-amping. However, you're still only using one amp to power your speakers (just the A and B outputs), so it really isn't doing you any good. If anything, it's probably hurting your performance. This is why I call it ghetto bi-amping.
To bi-wire, you need to connect two sets of speaker wire to the same terminal on the amp and then to the two terminals on the speaker (with the jumper removed). Doing this will not change the impedence of your speakers.

And hey Erik, ask Aaron about his ghetto-rear channel setup.....
Cheers,
Russ

Just to further clarify my question. I said I bi-wired TWO SETS (4 speakers) of 2001's. One to the A output and one to the B output. I gather that doesn't change the ohms. I really don't notice any degradation in sound, in fact I get more sound at lower volume levels. Maybe I would if I cranked it up. Thanks again.

If I understand what you typed you did this:
amp A LEFT channel terminals to speaker 1 with 2 speaker wires - 1 to the high input 1 to the low input.
amp A RIGHT channel terminals to speaker 2 with 2 speaker wires - 1 to the high input 1 to the low input.
amp B LEFT channel terminals to speaker 3 with 2 speaker wires - 1 to the high input 1 to the low input.
amp B RIGHT channel terminals to speaker 4 with 2 speaker wires - 1 to the high input 1 to the low input.
My guess is you have not lowered your speakers impedence or changed anything (other than "bi-wiring").
Did you have two pairs before?Dodd - Battery Preamp
Monarchy Audio SE100 Delux - mono power amps
Sony DVP-NS999ES - SACD player
ADS 1230 - Polk SDA 2B
DIY Stereo Subwoofer towers w/(4) 12 drivers each
Crown K1 - Subwoofer amp
Outlaw ICBM - crossover
Beringher BFD - sub eq
Where is the remote? Where is the $%#$% remote!

Today has not been my day. Not only have I not been able to spell, I apparently can't read either! Geez. My apologies again Erik.
