I was in dallas yesterday and a guy flagged me down at a light and asked me if i wanted some free speakers. So i was like sure ill take a look. Then he showed me the boxes and gave me some BS reason on why he need to get ride of them. Then he was like how much will u give me for a pair and i said not a damn thing. He was like and i said i didn't want those pieces of **** cause i already had a full HT system. He showed me the made of flier saying they were worth $1500. When he did that i remembered the scam that had been going on. I read about it on here a few mths earlier. So i got the licencse plate number and description of the car and called the 911 and made a report. A officer called me min. late asking me some more stuff cause he was in the area. I was suprised they even looked into it. It is good that they did. Don't know if he got caught or not but atleast the police were looking for him and i was looking out for all the retarded people in the US who get scammed with this. Anyways that it was funny that it actually happened to me.

And everybody laughed at me when I asked if they ever saw "the white van man" selling speakers in a parking lot!

Funniest thing is, this scam has been going on since the 70's and people STILL fall for it! Hell, my best friend and even his "genius" brother fell for it!

This thing is still going on. A buddy of mine fell for it in springfield, got a entire set for $500, i overheard the brand DOGG Digital when he was trying to sell them off to one of our stock guys. I talked to my buddy about them, who should have known better, and he said that not all the drivers were hooked up. A couple of the tweeters didn't work in the rears, and some of the drivers in his left speaker don't work either. He fixed the tweeters in the rear, but the front left is just plain busted.

On a side note, they have gone online to!

I love the descrptions, one just says brand new, great speakers, as if anyone were willing to spend $3200 with that kind of info on them. The other has actual specs, yet they are quite strange, for example they list the speaker's output power, list the tweeter as being metal soft dome with high resolution, and list the nominal impedance as 4 or 8 ohms. One of the guys has only 2 feedbacks, bought from buying things.

I wonder if anyone will fall for this trap.

A week ago my friend was working in a parking lot (landscaping for the same company I work for) and he called me up to ask if I was interested in a set of speakers because some guy waved him over in the parking lot and tried to sell him some speakers. Said they retailed for 1700... I quickly told him the white van story so he too knew what these guys were up to. I myslef would love to come across these guys and start throwing out questions I know they have no freakin clue about.

and list the nominal impedance as 4 or 8 ohms.

The audio experts at their website not only list 4 or 8 ohms, but spell it "impedence". Classic.

Awhile back I saw "Polk LSi 25, LSiC, LSiFX- full set" for $1200 on ebay. No pics, seems way too cheap for the full set, so I check the history, he's sold another set a week before. I email the guy who bought them to see how it worked out- he hadn't gotten them yet, but he promised to let me know if it turned out ok. 2 days later, i get an email: the seller had sent the buyer "White-van pieces of ****"... like he wouldn't notice.
