I am finishing up with my overhaul of the Series 7 pair.....Do I need to install hurricane nuts on the tweeters? I thought I read they were unnecessary on the tweeters. Thanks.

You don't have to. The benefit of doing so is you don't have to worry about the screw holes in the particleboard stripping out.Political Correctness'.........defined

The stock screws in the particleboard are a bad deal indeed. 8 more holes and and 8 more hurricane nuts...A no brainier ! Have fun.
